Amber Rawls was a member of '05-'08 Philadelphia 76ers professional dance team, the Sixers Dancers. Her classic training and vast experience make her potentially La Luna's most complete instructor. With Luna Negra (La Luna's former professional Salsa team), she has traveled extensively to perform at Salsa Congresses in the US and the Caribbean including the internationally acclaimed West Coast Salsa Congress in Los Angeles, CA. Amber has performed in other well known casino productions including "Extreme Vegas" in 2005 at Mystic Lake Resort & Casino in Minnesota and "Fire and Ice Ball" each New Year's Eve at Caesar's Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.
Born in Philadelphia, Amber began her serious dance training at age 12 at the Freedom Theatre studying Ballet, Modern, Jazz, African, and Tap where she performed at their annual production "Alkynza Danz". Soon after, she attended Creative and Performing Arts High School (CAPA) where she earned a spot on the CAPA Dance Company in her freshman year performing annually in the locally televised Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade. During this time, Amber was chosen to attend the Pennsylvania's Governor's School for Arts in Erie, PA for a six week modern dance intensive. Upon her return, Amber was invited to join DANCO II, Philadanco's Training company where she performed across the United States and Canada. After graduation from CAPA, she went on to attend the University of the Arts where she majored in Dance Education.
Amber now makes her home in Philadelphia with her talented young son and teaches Group and Private Lessons at La Luna in both the Salsa & Street Latin and Hip Hop Programs. Amber is a member of Calle Luna, current La Luna's Professional Salsa Company and a co-director of Las Estrellas, La Luna's Semi-Professional All Ladies Salsa Team.
